About us

The Port Authority of Šibenik was established to manage, construct, and use the Šibenik port, which is open for international public traffic and has been declared a port of special international economic interest for the Republic of Croatia due to its size and significance. It was founded by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia on December 2, 2004.

The Port Authority performs tasks defined by the law, including:

  • Ensuring the construction, maintenance, management, protection, and improvement of the maritime property that constitutes the port area.
  • Construction and maintenance of port infrastructure, which is financed from the budget of the port authority's founder.
  • Expert supervision over the construction, maintenance, management, and protection of the port area (port infrastructure and superstructure).
  • Ensuring continuous and uninterrupted port traffic, technical-technological unity and navigation safety.
  • Providing services of general interest or for which there is no economic interest of other economic entities.
  • Coordination and supervision of the work of concessionaires who carry out economic activities in the port area.
  • Making a decision on the establishment and management of a free zone in the port area in accordance with regulations governing free zones.
  • Performs other tasks determined by law.

The Port Authority of Šibenik grants concessions for port activities based on prescribed  technical and technological conditions, as well as on the basis of a publicly announced tender. The bodies of the port authority are the management board and the director.

Basic port activities are

  • Loading, unloading, transshipment, storage, sorting, and processing of goods.
  • Berthing and unberthing of ships
  • Cleaning the port
  • Boarding and disembarking of passengers and vehicles.
  • Other services in the port for which a concession is granted, such as providing water, energy, and telephone services, providing services to passengers and ships, servicing port equipment, agency and forwarding activities, quality and quantity control of goods, and other services.
